Snow of 2009

Yipppeee....Sunday was a good day! We had an awesome snow...it was beautiful! It was the most snow we have had in a VERY long time. The kids were lovin' it, I loved it! It was so pretty Sunday morning to see the beautiful sparkly snow. We tried to take the kids sledding, but one small problem, we don't have a sled. Come on, do you think we have a sled for when it might possibly snow enough to sled every few years? If there were any sleds in town before the snow, they were gone now. Doug has these big Pepsi signs that the kids & I thought would be awesome for sledding. Just picture this: The mini van pulling up to the park with 4 anxious kids & 2 anxious parents, equipped with our sledding Pepsi signs. We are so excited & we are suddenly crushed to find out EVERYONE has REAL sleds!! We entertain the idea of jumping a guy for his sled as he's leaving (come on...it was just an out loud thought). Oh goodness, we are looking like trailer trash! Doug decides to be brave & head out with the troops, after all, we are here to sled. Our Pepsi sleds were working beautifully, other than the HUGE wind gusts that kept taking the sleds from the kids! Abby & I sat in the car laughing, so hard my stomach was killing me, it was so funny! Doug on the other hand wasn't sharing my laughter. He was getting cussed out when the Pepsi sled almost took a kids head off from another wind gust. Doug was throwing his arms up for me to come help & all I could do was laugh. I wasn't laughing at the kid, I didn't want anyone hurt, just the whole darn experience was funny. So, Doug really thought I should come out & help him, but I was happy where I was. I was kind of embarrassed by the Pepsi sleds, although they were mainly my idea. Plus seeing him out there was much more entertaining. This really should have been captured on film, seriously it was hilarious! I tried to take pictures, but they couldn't come close to capturing the moment. To say the least, the kids will remember our first sledding outing for a very long time! :) Since the sledding didn't go as planned you will not find any sledding photos. You mark my words....my kids WILL have sleds for the next big snowfall, even if they are married with children by then!

Mattie's New Glasses

Mattie had been having a few troubles with her eyes, one being, seeing the board at school. We decided it was time to have her eyes checked. She had mixed emotions, a little excited a little scared. But she was way brave & over the week end Mattie got some new glasses.

Happy 16th Wedding Anniversary

16 years ago there was a girl that saw a boy, she was in such awe of him! She would watch him & watch him but she was too nervous to approach him. As time went on they finally met & shared a dance. From that point forward they didn't want to be apart. After two months of spending nearly everyday together they decided to dance together the rest of their life. It has now been 16 years & four kids later. There have been many ups & downs along the way, but one thing always remains the same our love for one another. I wouldn't want to go through life dancing with anyone else.

The girls helped me get ready for our Anniversary dinner. They put a table cloth on the table with rose petals, Hershey kisses & candles. They wore their aprons & were our servers for the evening, they were so cute. It was fun & the table looked beautiful!

She calls it Quits

Several weeks ago Abby decided to end her 2 1/2 year relationship with Taylor. It came as a surprise to me & I was sad by her decision. But that's just what it was, her decision, it wasn't mine. I have grown VERY fond of Taylor & his entire family. We have enjoyed him & the time we have spent with him. I know they are very young & I didn't expect them to go out forever, but.... it still makes me feel sad. My wish for them is they can remain friends. They are both such great kids. It would be unfortunate if they couldn't find a way to be friends. I know that's hard, but they seem to be working on it. I will always wish nothing best for Taylor. Abby has proved she has good judgment in character & I hope she will continue with good choices.

Ruptured Ear Drum

Oh Goodness! The other day we noticed Carson's ear was draining, like draining quite a bit. I took him to the doctor & was told he had a ruptured ear drum. Poor guy! He has handled it like a champ, never really complaining about his ear. But, taking his medicine is another issue. He WILL NOT drink any sort of medicine. I can get him to take a chewable with lots of coaxing & patience. So he was prescribed a chewable antibiotic. Now we are 8 days & counting until we finish the medicine. It is such a struggle to get home to take it. Last night he got one down, but the second he refused to take. It took two hours & fifteen minutes to get him to take, chew & swallow it! It is so frustrating, but I am going to win this battle! It took him forever to take one this morning, he just let it linger in his mouth until it melted. In the meantime slobber oozing out along the way. Doug had suggested crushing up the pill & putting it in his chocolate milk. Last time we tried to put liquid in a drink all hell broke loose! But we were hoping the crushed pill would be different. Well....little man has no idea his fabulous tasting chocolate milk is spiked with his antibiotic. Woo Hoo! The next 8 days are going to be a breeze after all!!

Super Bowl Super Fans

Our family was very excited about Super Bowl Sunday, especially Doug. Because most of you know he is a Steelers Super Fan. Growing up where he did you would probably be stoned to death if your weren't a Steelers Fan! Mattie, Abby & Talula were cheering for the Steelers with Dad. Syd cheered for the Cards & poor Carson was on the fence not knowing whether to side with mom or dad. Because I was cheering for the underdog (Cardinals). I'm sorry, but I am NOT a Steelers Fan, I can't help it, sorry if this offends anyone. I will cheer for them, to support Doug, as long as they're not playing anyone I like. After all, I lived in Arizona & who would have thought they would really ever make it thus far?

We went to some friends house for some super bowl festivities. We had a great time & in the end Doug was a very happy man. But for the record...he is a very sore winner! He wasn't very nice & harassed my dear Arizona friends! Not nice Doug.... :) Although maybe the bet he made with Anissa will work out in my favor after all. She's supposed to visit now that the Steelers won! HOORAY!!! I'm waiting patiently.

Abby's Tricycle Race

Abby participated in Warrior Hysteria at school today. It was for Basketball Homecoming Week. The kids that wanted to attend & watch the festivities paid $5 to go & watch, it was a FULL house! Abby did the tricycle race. They had a slip n slide on all kinds of awful stuff, like chocolate syrup, strawberry syrup, oil, dish soap etc. There was an ice-cream eating contest with no hands laying on the floor. Another was, you had to bob for an apple, then put your face in a pan of flour & search for the bubble gum, blow a bubble then sit on a balloon & pop it.

It was so funny to watch!
