Carson's 2nd week of school

We kind of got off to a bad start this week, because mom happily forgot a day of school. They moved the Thursday class to Monday and I didn't pay any attention to the news letter & we missed it! Sad for Carson, because it was bring your teddy bear to school & they had a teddy bear picnic. I had to fess up that I'm a loser & tell him he missed it. I felt so bad, because he does have a great time once he's there. So, we made it to the second day this week, 'Farm Day'. He looked so cute as a little farmer. This day he walked right in quiet, but no tears & I was able to walk right out with no fuss. Day three was dress as your favorite animal, to which he chose a Cheetah, because they are fast & he can run real fast. Since I don't have a Cheetah outfit hanging around I had to get creative. I cut out some felt spots & glued them on sweats & picked up some ears, tail & what he calls his collar so he doesn't get lost. He marched in day 3 this week, no problem. They had a visitor in his class, a real Hedgehog, you can imagine, the kids thought that was fabulous! I am so proud of Carson, he really had a great week! They do so many FUN things with the kids. They baked a cake on Tuesday, he cracked an egg. They iced & ate it on Wed. It was a green snake cake!

Carson's First Week of Pre-School

Well, the day finally arrived. The day my sweet baby boy had to start school. I know it's just pre-school, but it's a BIG reality check for me of what's to come. What on earth am I going to do with this extra time on my hands & even more next year & the years to follow!? I am truly lost without any kids at home. I drive around not sure where to go or what to do. The quiet at home is awful! It's so strange being in the house alone. It's going to take some time to figure out this new chapter of my life. I have had kids at home for 15 years, that's a big change!

As for Carson he had been so excited about his BIG day! He is going to Abby's high school for pre-school. They have a fabulous program, where the high school students are their teachers. The high schoolers that are interested are interviewed before being selected for the class, not everyone can take this class. They have 6 weeks of classroom work & preparation before they get to be hands on with the preschoolers. They have such a neat class room & full of teenage energy, it's pretty great! It is 3 days a week 8-12pm. His first day he woke up & was so excited to get ready & get going. He even marched into class before me, not his usual trailing/hiding behind me. But it didn't take long for the reality to hit that mom wasn't staying. He got so sad. He is extremely quiet around outsiders, in fact he will NOT talk or make eye contact. He can just pretend you are not there. Well, that's just what he did to his teachers. One of the students took him from me while he was upset so I could leave. It was so awful! But he ended up having a great day & in fact, he eventually, for the second period kids told them his name & said his favorite sport is golf. He made so many neat things, played games, went to gym, had music & ate snack. He was so thrilled when I picked him up & couldn't wait to tell Dad & the girls ALL about it. The next two days were as difficult at drop off, but he went on to have an awesome day. I know it will get better for him, I don't know if I can say the same for me. :) The girls also had these same struggles. #1-they never went to daycare or babysitters #2-never had weekends at grandparents or cousins houses. So this has always been a huge challenge, them being away from mom.

We have had three days off, one more to go then we get to start this whole process again. It's another one of those bittersweet motherhood moments. As a mom your so excited for them embarking on a new adventure & you try to be excited for them. But your dyeing inside to know they are growing up!
